Lymphatic Drainage After Liposuction or a BBL: Building Your Recovery Routine
I don't book a first session for lipo or BBL clients without their surgeon's clearance — that rule doesn't bend for these procedures any more than it does for a tummy tuck. If you're looking for post-lipo or post-BBL lymphatic drainage massage in London, here's how the protocol works at my Stockwell studio specifically for these two procedures, which bring a slightly different set of practical questions than others: sitting, positioning, and multiple treatment areas.

Ask your surgeon about sitting, then tell me
If you've had a BBL, ask your surgeon directly whether and for how long you should avoid sitting on the treated area — that instruction is theirs to give, not something I'll assume on your behalf. Once you tell me what they've said, it shapes exactly how I position you on the table: often reclined or side-lying rather than seated-style, depending on what you've been told.
Liposuction: treating more than one area
Lipo often covers more than one area in a single procedure — abdomen, flanks and thighs together, for example. At your consultation, we map out exactly which areas your surgeon wants included and roughly how the hour should be divided between them; on the day, if one area feels more sensitive than planned, I'll adjust the split and mention it to you rather than sticking rigidly to the original plan.
Garments: I work around what your surgeon prescribed
Compression garments are common after both procedures, and I don't have an opinion on how long to wear one — that instruction comes from your surgeon, and it takes priority over anything I might otherwise suggest. Tell me what you've been told to wear and for how long, and I'll work the session around it: over the garment, around it, or with it briefly repositioned, depending on what's practical for the area we're treating that day.
Why consistency matters more with multiple areas
When a procedure covers several sites with clearance arriving at different times for each, treating the course as a fixed weekly booking rather than "whenever it feels needed" is what actually keeps track of which area is at which stage. The studio's introductory packages (5 sessions for £275, 10 for £500) suit that kind of multi-week, multi-area course.
Working around the treated areas
With lipo especially, where several sites might be involved, clearance can arrive unevenly — one area signed off for full sessions while another is still restricted. I ask you to confirm area by area rather than assuming a general "you're cleared" covers everywhere your surgeon operated.
What I need before your first appointment
Your surgeon's written clearance, the procedure and areas treated, and your garment schedule — send these before booking, not on the day, so the session is built around your actual plan rather than guesswork at the door. Without clearance, I can still take a consultation to plan ahead, but I won't book the first hands-on session.
